TELUK INTAN-16APRIL10: Forget about big fancy cars or the traditional bullock cart ride – lovebirds Mohd Zulfadli Mohd Khalid and Nur Syafinaz Asyirah Shahrizan had something else in mind for their wedding reception.

The newlyweds took a helicopter ride to their reception.

Dozens of excited guests and bystanders greeted the couple at the football field along Jalan Speedy here before they were whisked away in a multi-purpose vehicle escorted by an entourage of five sports cars to their reception venue, the Teluk Intan Municipal Hall.

Nur Syafinaz Asyirah, 18, said all the arrangements were made by her father, a pilot with Firefly.

“It was a wedding gift from him. I’ve always wanted to ride in a helicopter and for me to experience it for the very first time on my wedding day is amazing.

“I was happy, nervous and excited all at the same time,” said the blushing bride.

Mohd Zulfadli who, like his wife, is into direct selling was equally thrilled by the ride.

”It was a surprise from my father-in-law. We did not know about the helicopter ride until last week when he had already planned everything,” said the 20-year-old.

Shahrizan Abdul Rahman, 50, said he had wanted to do something special for his daughter and new husband on their wedding day.

“She is the youngest of my three children and I have a soft spot for her. So I made arrangements with my former colleagues at Integrated Training and Services where I used to teach flying to have them fly the couple in a helicopter,” he said..
